General Information
Vasiliki is one of the most cosmopolitan tourist resorts in Lefkada with great tourist development. Located at the south part of the island, in a verdurous location, it is only 38km from the capital. Center of attraction is the beach of Vasiliki which reaches the Ponti bay and it is one of the best in the Mediterranean for windsurfing. It is very rare not to have a good wind in this beach. It blows from the high central mountains and goes down the valley. The sails of the surfers are always full and they speed a lot in the blue sea. Hundreds of surfers practice for hours their favorite sport offering the visitor a unique show. The port of Vasiliki is connected to the islands of Ithaka and Cefalonia giving tourists the chance to visit more Ionian islands. Lefkada is an island of the Ionian Sea and belongs to the island complex of Eptanisa. It lies between the islands of Corfu and Kefalonia. It is very close to the shores of the western mainland of Greece. Only a small strip of sea separates the island from Akarnania and a fifty meter floating bridge connects them.
